15 experts from 15 countries attend the annual strategy meeting at IASP Headquarters in the PTA

The IASP International Board of Directors met in Malaga (Spain) on the 17th – 19th February 2016, in order to analyse the association’s activities over the last year, and to set the strategic direction for 2016 and beyond.

The International Board is made up of 18 members from 15 countries. 15 of them travelled to Malaga for the two-day Board meeting where they shared their ideas and expertise, explored new opportunities and challenges facing the science park industry, and outlined the path for IASP to follow over the coming year.

The Board noted the continuous growth of IASP membership which shows the increasing relevance of science parks as tools for regional economic development and the enhancement of innovation. IASP will continue analyzing the staggering evolution of science parks, which is giving birth to a number of very interesting new models where science parks and cities join forces to create new areas of innovation.

Another highlight of the meeting illustrates the vitality of the IASP network, with the Board approving two official candidates bidding to host the IASP World Conference in 2018. This year IASP members will meet in Moscow, Russia, and in 2017 in Istanbul, Turkey. The two candidates to host the 2018 event are Stockholm, Sweden, and Isfahan, Iran.

IASP President, Jean François Balducchi of Atlanpole (Nantes, France) said:

“Every meeting of the IASP Board of Directors is an amazing occasion to learn, as we all benefit from the global and comprehensive vision that having experienced innovation professionals from all around the world brings. Our job is now to make sure that these lessons and knowledge are shared with all our membership.”
