Thus, the building of the former Science and Technology Center (CCT) will be renamed \u201cEdificio Pepe P\u00e9rez Palmis\u201d in his honour, an agreement reached by the park&#8217;s Board of Directors in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, during the event, a painting with the portrait of P\u00e9rez Palmis which will remain in the building that now bears his name was unveiled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event was attended by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, the widow of Pepe P\u00e9rez Palmis, Hannelore Benz; the former CEO of AT4 Wireless, Luis Fernando Martinez; the former CEO of IASP, Luis Sanz; and the former CEO of Ingenia, Jos\u00e9 Blanco<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has highlighted the figure of Pepe P\u00e9rez Palmis as a precursor of Malaga TechPark since the beginning of the Technological Malaga, so consolidated today. He has also highlighted the social commitment of P\u00e9rez Palmis to reduce the digital divide through the work done by the association ASIT. In this sense, de la Torre recalled the existing collaboration between the City Council and this entity through the donation of computer equipment and the development of projects of incursion into new technologies among families in Malaga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For his part, the general manager of Malaga TechPark, Felipe Romera, has told the beginnings of the park and the ins and outs that were experienced in those years to get the technopolis to be international from the beginning, by managing to bring to Malaga the headquarters of the International Association of Science and Technology Parks, IASP. &#8220;Pepe was a key player in the birth of the place where we are today, although it is not so well known,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">P\u00e9rez Palmis&#8217; widow, Hannelore Benz, expressed her &#8220;enormous&#8221; gratitude for the recognition and assured her that her husband would be proud of this tribute.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><strong>About Pepe P\u00e9rez Palmis<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">P\u00e9rez Palmis was born in Murcia in 1932. He studied law and arrived in Malaga in 1975 as director of the delegation of Banco Exterior. But his greatest dedication and passion, which was accentuated after his retirement, went to the organization he founded and of which he was president until he died in 2018, the <a href=\"http:\/\/med-ideapolis.com\/asit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Association for Research and Technology (ASIT)<\/a>. This entity develops numerous development projects in La Palmilla, a neighborhood that P\u00e9rez Palmis always carried with him at all levels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was the first president of the Social Council of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uma.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University <\/a>and, together with Felipe Romera and Luis Sanz, managed to get Malaga TechPark to host the headquarters of the International <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apte.org\/iasp-asociacion-internacional-de-parques\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Association of Science and Technology Parks (IASP)<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>P\u00e9rez Palmis was one of the driving forces behind the
