{"id":14549,"date":"2023-06-02T11:05:06","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T11:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/?p=14549"},"modified":"2023-06-02T11:05:06","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T11:05:06","slug":"science-and-technology-parks-invested-e1539-million-in-rd-in-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/en\/noticias\/science-and-technology-parks-invested-e1539-million-in-rd-in-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Science and Technology Parks invested \u20ac1,539 million in R&#038;D in 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>\n<h6><b>The Spanish science and technology parks presented their business activity statistics of 2022 in Tenerife, highlighting the investment in R&amp;D, which has already reached 1,539 million euros and represents approximately 9% of total R&amp;D expenditure in Spain.<\/b><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apte.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain<\/a> (APTE) recently celebrated its second General Assembly of the year, where they disclosed the business activity statistics of the companies and entities located in the 50 Spanish science and technology parks distributed in 15 Autonomous Communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The investment in Research and Development (R&amp;D) stands out in this year\u2019s data. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This investment was made by the entities located in the science and technology parks during 2022 and<\/span><b> it reached \u20ac1,539 million<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a figure that represents 9% of total R&amp;D expenditure in Spain in 2021 (latest data available at the National Statistics Institute).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These data show the major contribution to private R&amp;D that these entities make in the framework of the Spanish innovation ecosystem. Furthermore, the <\/span><b>Spanish science and technology parks, following the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, commit to doubling the public and private investment sum until reaching the European average investment sum by 2027, that is, going from 1.24% of Spain\u2019s GDP in R&amp;D&amp;I in 2018 to 2.12% by 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the presentation of the business activity statistics, APTE reported that this year they modified the methodology of collecting statistical information to ensure greater control and better updating of the data, therefore <\/span><b>APTE, starting this year, will produce a new statistics series on the activity of companies and entities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> located in the Spanish science and technology parks. It will be based on the following data:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>No. of companies and entities: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5,780<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Turnover: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac25,148 million<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Employment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">150,624 workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>R&amp;D employment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">34,190 workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>R&amp;D investment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac1,539 million<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Foreign companies: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">394<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Companies in incubation stages:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 808<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Patents granted: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">892<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Patents pending: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">446<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Companies created in the parks: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">261<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Companies installed in the parks: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">528<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover,<\/span><b> 810 companies led by women <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have been registered in the parks, which represent 15% of companies established in these parks. These data have been provided by 43 science and technology parks. On the other hand, out of the 38 parks that provided these data,<\/span><b> 930 companies (22% of companies) declared having equality plans.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main activity data, as well as the most relevant information on APTE member parks and their ecosystems, can be consulted in th<\/span><b>e <\/b><b><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/apte_techno\/docs\/directorio_apte_2023?fr=sM2M0NDcxMDQ5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">APTE 2023 Directory<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>APTE \u2013 Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apte.org\/\">www.apte.org<\/a>) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit association whose main goal is to cooperate through the empowerment and dissemination of science and technology parks, the renewal and diversification of productive activity, technological progress and economic development. It currently has 58 parks members distributed in Spain. 50 of them are Full members, that is, they are fully active; 1 of them is an Honour member and 7 of them are Collaborating members. In 2022 these parks hosted 5,780 entities that billed \u20ac25,148 million.
