{"id":19425,"date":"2024-06-24T07:17:23","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T07:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/?p=19425"},"modified":"2024-06-24T07:17:23","modified_gmt":"2024-06-24T07:17:23","slug":"the-catedra-mujer-and-tecnologia-hedy-lamarr-honours-two-female-engineers-in-the-second-edition-of-the-dekra-w-steam-2030-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/en\/noticias\/the-catedra-mujer-and-tecnologia-hedy-lamarr-honours-two-female-engineers-in-the-second-edition-of-the-dekra-w-steam-2030-award\/","title":{"rendered":"The C\u00e1tedra Mujer and Tecnolog\u00eda Hedy Lamarr honours two female engineers in the second edition of the \u201cDEKRA W-STEAM 2030\u201d Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>\n<h6>The awarded were Concepci\u00f3n Cord\u00f3n Fuentes, in the Senior category, expert in cybersecurity, and Asunci\u00f3n Buenek Ndj\u00e9, an <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electronic Systems Engineering student,<\/span> in the junior category.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second edition of the \u201cDEKRA W-STEAM 2030\u201d Awards, organised by the C\u00e1tedra Mujer and the Tecnolog\u00eda Hedy Lamarr of the University of M\u00e1laga, has recognised two female engineers: Concepci\u00f3n Fuentes, in the senior category, expert in cybersecurity, student of the first promotion of Computer Science of the UMA, and Asunci\u00f3n Buenek Ndj\u00e9, in the junior one, Electronic Systems Engineering student.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The presentation of the awards took place in the meeting room of the Escuela T\u00e9cnica Superior de Ingenier\u00eda de Telecomunicaci\u00f3n (School of Telecommunications Engineering) in a ceremony presided over by the rector, Teodomiro L\u00f3pez, who has also counted on the director of the C\u00e1tedra, the professor of Telecommunications Engineering Mar\u00eda del Carmen Aguayo, and Alejandro Torrecilla, general director of DEKRA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These awards were created with the aim of recognizing both women that currently are studying degrees in the STEM areas \u2013 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics \u2013 and females graduated with extensive professional experience in the same field. Thus, the objective is to make these degrees more visible so that female students increase their interest, train themselves, participate and work in them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In particular, Cord\u00f3n Fuentes has been distinguished \u201cfor her national and international professional career of more than 25 years dedicated to innovation and recognised by the sector, having contributed to the technological development of the city\u201d, and Buenek Ndj\u00e9 \u201cfor her talent, passion for innovation and technology, activities related to communication and contributions to the community society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both of them have expressed their gratitude for this distinction, which is an \u201copportunity\u201d to break down barriers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The director of the C\u00e1tedra, who has also highlighted her drive to create female role models, has said that \u201cThese awards recognise excellence, commitment and the determination to change the social model.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rector has congratulated the winners and has concluded by underlining that \u201cthis type of meeting symbolises that things are being done well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The awarded were Concepci\u00f3n Cord\u00f3n Fuentes, in the Senior category, expert in cybersecurity, and Asunci\u00f3n Buenek Ndj\u00e9, an Electronic Systems Engineering student, in the junior category.
