{"id":24661,"date":"2025-05-28T11:38:57","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T11:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/noticias\/the-andalusian-government-and-innova-irv-launch-program-to-boost-industrial-activity-in-four-civil-and-military-sectors\/"},"modified":"2025-05-28T11:38:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T11:38:57","slug":"the-andalusian-government-and-innova-irv-launch-program-to-boost-industrial-activity-in-four-civil-and-military-sectors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/en\/noticias\/the-andalusian-government-and-innova-irv-launch-program-to-boost-industrial-activity-in-four-civil-and-military-sectors\/","title":{"rendered":"The Andalusian Government and Innova IRV Launch Program to Boost Industrial Activity in Four Civil and Military Sectors"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Andalusian Minister of Industry Jorge Paradela presented this public-private initiative at FEINDEF, outlining four major challenges in dual-use technology<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/presidencia\/portavoz\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andalusian Government<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has introduced a new program to foster projects within the region\u2019s dual-use industry\u2014 those with civil and military applications. \u201cThis is a public-private initiative led by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/organismos\/industriaenergiayminas.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and developed in collaboration with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/innovairv.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Innova IRV<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to help Andalusia\u2019s industrial sector seize the moment and take advantage of opportunities presented by dual-use technologies,\u201d explained Industry Minister Jorge Paradela during the presentation, joined by Fernando Chac\u00f3n, Vice President of Defense, Security and Emergency at the INNOVA IRV Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the second day of the International Defense and Security Fair (FEINDEF), Minister Paradela, accompanied by Jos\u00e9 Carlos G\u00f3mez Villamandos (Minister of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/organismos\/universidadinvestigacioneinnovacion.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University, Research and Innovation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and Mar\u00eda del Carmen Castillo (Minister of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/organismos\/desarrolloeducativoyformacionprofesional.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Education Development and Vocational Training<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), emphasized that \u201cthe Andalusian Government firmly believes that this region, its companies, and its professionals are fully prepared to take on a leadership role from southern Europe in the technological and industrial transformation that the defense sector demands.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is why \u201cwe are launching a program that aims to uncover industrial capabilities and promote business collaboration by presenting four major challenges to the Andalusian industrial ecosystem, aligned with regional strengths and the European Union\u2019s strategic autonomy goals.\u201d These challenges correspond to the Ministry\u2019s four core areas of focus: industrial development, mining, energy, and industrial inspections, explained Paradela during the presentation, which also featured remarks from Deputy Minister Crist\u00f3bal S\u00e1nchez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fernando Chac\u00f3n highlighted that many industrial companies in Andalusia are not currently involved in the defense sector, but possess capabilities that could be applied to it. That is the gap this initiative seeks to bridge,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Challenges\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first challenge revolves around the development of the ARES+D vehicle. It is a modular, low-cost, remotely operated 4&#215;4 ground vehicle designed for emergencies, civil protection, rural surveillance, and military support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second challenge focuses on mining waste valorization. \u201cAndalusia accounts for 90% of Spain\u2019s metallic mining production value and is the second largest copper producer in Europe. Our subsoil contains indicators of 22 out of 34 critical raw materials identified by the EU.\u201d Given this mining potential, the challenge aims to transform waste into opportunity by extracting critical minerals like zinc, copper, or tungsten through reprocessing technologies. It will also promote applied R+D while addressing the EU\u2019s strategic need for raw materials essential to energy transition and digitalization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The third challenge pertains to hydrogen and energy storage. With Andalusia as one of southern Europe\u2019s leading green hydrogen producers, \u201cwe aim to leverage this industrial ecosystem to develop pilot projects for electricity generation and storage based on hydrogen.\u201d The ultimate goal is to scale these initiatives and \u201cenable Andalusia to lead the development of technologies applicable to energy islands, industrial self-consumption, and smart grids, while also encouraging hydrogen-based mobility,\u201d explained Paradela.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fourth challenge addresses predictive maintenance for vehicles, promoting the use of digital technologies and AI to anticipate mechanical failures, enhance safety, and extend the operational lifespan of both civilian and military
