This milestone will position M\u00e1laga on the European map of quantum computing and at the forefront of knowledge in this field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The signing ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University of M\u00e1laga, Teodomiro L\u00f3pez; the Vice-Rector for Technological Innovation and Strategic Projects, Javier L\u00f3pez; and the President of Quantum Labs, Javier Romero. Also present were the Regional Government of Andalusia\u2019s Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela, and the Managing Director of the Andalusian Digital Agency, Ra\u00fal Jim\u00e9nez, as part of a coordinated initiative to foster quantum technologies in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement sets out the conditions for the installation and operation of an advanced quantum system based on superconducting technology, developed by ORIGIN, which will be housed at the University of M\u00e1laga\u2019s SCBI facilities at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pta.es\/en\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M\u00e1laga TechPark<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This initiative strengthens the scientific and technological capabilities of M\u00e1laga\u2019s innovation ecosystem in a strategic area for the development of emerging technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system features an ultra-low vibration design and advanced quantum control and measurement technologies. It requires highly specialised technical infrastructure, including cryogenic cooling systems and an estimated power consumption of up to 80 kW. Quantum Labs will be responsible for refurbishing the space, as well as installing, operating, and maintaining the equipment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of M\u00e1laga will provide the necessary facilities for the system\u2019s installation at SCBI, as well as access and institutional support for the development of related activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The launch of this infrastructure will enable progress in new lines of research in computing and quantum technologies and their applications in areas such as artificial intelligence, photonics, cybersecurity, programming and simulation of complex systems, and computing chemistry, while also fostering collaboration with the scientific and technological community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Research and Scientific Outreach, along with researchers from the University of M\u00e1laga specialising in quantum technologies whose groups are part of the Quant\u00b7UMA initiative.
