Málaga TechPark Execs Talent Group Meets with the University of Málaga to Strengthen Collaboration Between Companies and Academia

  • For the first time, the School of Telecommunication Engineering, the School of Industrial Engineering, and the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences present their educational offerings at the Park

The Talent Group of the Málaga TechPark Execs Directors’ Club brought together around twenty executives from companies within the Málaga technology park, along with various academic representatives from the University of Málaga, to discuss the future of education and the connection between university talent and industrial and technological companies in Málaga TechPark.

The event, held at Accenture’s headquarters, featured the participation of: 

  • Joaquín Ortega, Director of the School of Industrial Engineering.
  • Fali Godoy, Director of the ETSI School of Telecommunication Engineering.
  • Ana Cisneros, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences. 
  • Javier López, Rector’s Delegate for Technologicl Innovation and Director of the UMA innTech Office
  • Lourdes Cruz, Business Development Director of Málaga TechPark and Technical Coordinator of the Talent Group.
  • Nuria Iglesias, Delivery and Culture Lead in Advanced Technology Center at Accenture in EMEA South and Coordinator of the Talent Group.

New Leadership in Engineering Course

One of the key announcements at the meeting was the new “Leadership in Engineering” course, set to launch in the next academic year. “Engineers must acquire management, process planning, communication, and team coordination skills,” stated Godoy. 

He also introduced the “Project Laboratory” initiative, which the students will face during the degree. This proposal aims to bring students’ academic training closer to a professional activity simulation. “We want students to complete the degree with a prototype they can showcase, explain, and test.”

Collaboration with TechPark Companies

The collaboration between the University of Málaga, through the UMA innTech Office, and the needs of Málaga TechPark companies is absolute. The projects mentioned before are backed and recommended by the Málaga TechPark Execs Club executives, which represents over fifty companies. 

In this regard, Ortega highlighted the importance of talent training and collaboration in micro-credentials, as well as the strategic connection between the School of Industrial Engineering’s talent and the industry through employment channels, internships, and final year projects (TFE) within companies.  

Cisneros, representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, presented its degrees and specialized programs, internship opportunities, and the upcoming 2025 Job Fair. Additionally, she emphasized collaboration in educational activities such as tailored degree programs, lectures, and workshops, along with other cooperative efforts like the establishment of an advisory committee to update the curriculum. 

The event concluded with the presentation of upcoming initiatives yet to be developed, reaffirming the commitment of all parties to fostering talent in engineering and economics and facilitating their integration into the labor market within Málaga TechPark. 

About the club

The Málaga TechPark Execs Directors’ Club was established to foster collaboration between companies within Málaga TechPark and to highlight professional excellence.

This project, which emerged during the pandemic, brings together business leaders and executives, representing over 70% of the park’s employment.

The club, supported and coordinated by the park’s management, consists of more than fifty business leaders, including CEOs and senior executives from companies such as:

Three years after its creation, Málaga TechPark Execs continues to strengthen the ecosystem of the park by supporting its companies, fostering talent and R+D+I projects, and consolidating connections between the businesses that are part of it.
