The Regional Minister of Economy announces that the agreement will create connections between companies in the Puerto Seco Antequera Park and Málaga TechPark, strengthening Andalusia’s R&D&I and technology ecosystem.
The Andalusian Government has boosted the technological and business development of the region with the signing of a cooperation agreement between Antequera City Council and Málaga TechPark. This agreement will facilitate innovation and technology transfer between companies in industrial zones, strengthening Andalusia’s R&D&I ecosystem. “This strategic alliance will allow us to create connections and generate new opportunities that can bring projects, jobs, and wealth to our region,” emphasized Carolina España, Andalusia’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds, and President of Málaga TechPark.
This agreement marks a decisive step toward building a shared ecosystem that links the industrial and technological zones of both entities, with a special focus on the development of the Puerto Seco Antequera Park. “Both areas have much to contribute: technologies, innovative solutions, ideas… That’s why the Andalusian Government will promote knowledge exchange among companies, universities, and research centers,” noted the Andalusian Head of Ecónomy. “This new alliance, which brings together innovation and logistics, technology and industry, opens a door to solid business projects capable of generating economic activity, quality employment, and more balanced regional development,” added España. She also highlighted: “We want business development, economic and technological wealth generated by the park, one of the most powerful within Spain, to extend and benefit more people and regions.”
This agreement also aims to “attract talent”, as one of its pillars is the exchange of professionals, researchers, and skilled technicians. “We want young Andalusian talent to find real opportunities here without having to go abroad.”
For Minister España, this agreement demonstrates “the regional government’s commitment to a development model that integrates innovation, industry, and sustainability.” That way, the PTA-Antequera City Council “aspires to become a bridge between innovation, business, and knowledge, a place where companies collaborate, share experiences, and grow together through joint projects in key fields such as AI, autonomous vehicles, aerospace industry, cybersecurity, and future food technologies.”
España also underlined the government’s support for the Puerto Seco Antequera Park, “an industrial hub that we’ve unlocked and are actively promoting, with €50 million in public-private investment and a total of €146 million planned for the network by 2027.”
The Ministry of Economy, Finance, and European Funds is financing 70% of the private investment for the first phase of the Dry Port’s development. Almost €19 million in repayable loans have been granted through the Urban Development Fund (FDU), jointly managed with the European Investment Bank. “This is an effective tool for supporting sustainable, strategic investments. We know that it is businesses that create jobs and growth, and we, as an administration, must support them with useful, agile, and efficient tools,” concluded the Minister.
Manuel Barón, Mayor of Antequera, highlighted that the city “consolidates its role as industrial, logistical, and now technological hub in Andalusia. It opens new opportunities for businesses and professionals within our region.”
A shared hub for Andalusia’s innovation future
Under the name of PTA-Antequera City Council, both business hubs will jointly design and implement a shared strategy to foster the integration of knowledge, research, and innovation into the region’s business and industrial fabric.
The four-year renewable agreement outlines initiatives around four strategic pillars:
- Business connectivity. Fostering synergies between companies.
- Knowledge transfer. Facilitating the exchange of best practices in innovation and management.
- Talent, encouraging the mobility of startups and professionals between both ecosystems.
- Strategic joint projects in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, sustainability, and FoodTech.
Companies located in new industrial areas defined by the Antequera City Council will be able to join the Málaga TechPark ecosystem, gaining access to its collaboration networks, visibility, and technology transfer initiatives.
In return, the City Council will identify eligible zones, grant them a joint designation, and provide the necessary information to coordinate strategic actions.
A Joint Committee composed of representatives from both entities will be created to monitor the agreement’s progress, propose new joint projects, and monitor the actions promoted within the framework of this alliance.
