- The regional government has officially approved the fast-tracking of Saltburn Holding’s project through its Project Accelerator Unit, a major initiative involving an investment of €1,257 million
The Governing Council of the Regional Government of Andalusia has approved the declaration of strategic interest for Andalusia of the data centre project promoted by Saltburn Holding, S.L. at the Málaga TechPark expansion site in the city of Málaga. The initiative will involve an investment of €1,257 million and is expected to create more than 500 jobs during both the construction and operational phases.
According to the resolution submitted to the Governing Council by the Delegate Committee for Economic Affairs, the project envisages the development of a Tier III / Tier III+ data centre designed to provide data storage and processing services, artificial intelligence, cloud services, and digital connectivity. The infrastructure will have an IT capacity of 100 MW and an estimated total electricity consumption of 150 MW.
The facility will be located on Plot C of Sector SUS CA-23 “PTA Extension”, in the municipality of Málaga, covering an area of 71,415 square metres.
The declaration has been adopted pursuant to Decree-Law 4/2019 of 10 December, on the promotion of economic initiatives through administrative acceleration and simplification procedures for project fast-tracking and declarations of strategic interest for Andalusia.
During the processing of the fast-tracking procedure, the mandatory reports were obtained from the regional ministries responsible for industry, spatial planning, environmental sustainability, agriculture, culture, and health, as well as from the Project Accelerator Unit, whose technical report delivered a favourable assessment.
The resolution establishes that the declaration of strategic interest will remain valid until 31 December 2031.
