- Málaga TechPark is now part of this key new infrastructure, backed by a budget of over €5 million for the 2025-2029 period
Málaga TechPark has announced its participation in the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) AIR-Andalusia, an ambitious regional initiative that has been officially launched with the aim of fostering digital transformation in the business sector through artificial intelligence (AI) and applied robotics.
As one of the region’s innovation drivers, Málaga TechPark joins this strategic consortium to bring advanced digital technologies closer to companies and public administrations. This infrastructure will enable over 1,300 Andalusian SMEs to take a leap towards digitalisation, significantly improving their competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven market environment.
Cutting-edge services for the business sector
Starting in April, companies will have access to a catalogue of 30 specialised services through the hub’s official website (https://www.airandalusia.es/). Organisations such as Málaga TechPark will play a key role in facilitating and strengthening the adoption of these solutions.
The hub’s main services include technological experimentation programmes under the ‘test before invest’ approach; access to technology infrastructures and specialised laboratories; advanced training programmes tailored to the sector needs; expert advisory services for digitalisation projects; as well as support and guidance in accessing funding opportunities.
Institutional and financial support
The project benefits from strong financial and institutional backing. It has a total budget of over €5 million for the 2025-2029 period. The initiative is co-financed at 50% by the European Union (through the Digital Europe programme) and includes a direct contribution of €600,000 from the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Andalusian Digital Agency.
Through this initiative, Andalusia gains direct access to the European network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), paving the way for international collaboration in AI and robotics.
An ecosystem of 21 partner institutions
AIR-Andalusia is a joint initiative driven by 21 Andalusian institutions working in coordination. Alongside Málaga TechPark, the consortium brings together a strong network of universities, research centres, business clusters and leading technology organisations, including:
- Universities: University of Málaga, University of Granada, University of Jaén, University of Córdoba, University of Seville and University of Huelva.
- Innovation agents and technology parks (regional and Málaga-based): BIC Euronova, Innova IRV (Ricardo Valle Innovation Institute), PTS Granada Foundation and onTech Innovation.
- Public administrations and entities: Andalusian Digital Agency and the Regional Ministry of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies (Progress and Health Foundation).
- Technology and business foundations and centres: AI Granada Research & Innovation, CETEMET, FIDESOL, Ayesa, Andalusian Technology Corporation (CTA), Andalusian Confederation of Businesspeople (CEA), Linares Chamber of Commerce and Andalusia Chambers.
