- Around fifty executives and start-ups from Japan, the United States and across Asia have gathered at the Park to develop disruptive solutions in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and cyber security
The innovation ecosystem at Málaga TechPark is once again taking centre stage on the international technology scene by hosting the in-person phase of NTT DATA’s global open innovation programme. During four intensive days of work in which participants explored Málaga’s innovation ecosystem, the Málaga technology park welcomed Yogesh Singh, Head of Alliances and Incubation for EMEA at NTT DATA’s Global Innovation HQ, alongside more than sixty senior executives, corporate clients and disruptive start-ups from Japan, the United States and Asia. This meeting focused on setting up working groups, prototyping and validating solutions to tackle real business challenges, offering participating teams the opportunity to secure funding for the development of their proof-of-concepts.
These immersive sessions centred on critical technological areas that will shape the future of global industry, such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, digital twins and cybersecurity. To showcase the potential of the environment first-hand, the directors of Málaga TechPark, Lourdes Cruz Ochotorena, Head of Sales and Investment Attraction, and Clara Gálvez Verdú, Head of Internal Control and Procurement, together with Manuel Blázquez de Pineda, Chief Technology Officer at INNOVA IRV, were responsible for officially welcoming the delegation. During the meeting, they provided a comprehensive overview of the park and explored strategic synergies that demonstrate how the value of this innovation hub extends beyond its physical space.
As part of the programme, Málaga TechPark organised a strategic tour designed to showcase the strength of its model of public-private collaboration. The agenda included detailed presentations on the park’s operational and research capabilities by Lourdes Cruz Ochotorena, as well as a presentation on UMA innTech by its director, Javier López. The international delegation also had the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art facilities such as the University of Málaga’s Supercomputing Centre, INNOVA IRV and DEKRA, witnessing first-hand the ecosystem’s ability to attract top-tier talent and international technological investment.
The choice of the Málaga site to host this global programme reaffirms its role as a hub connecting science, business and investment. Málaga TechPark is currently home to more than 700 companies, which generate an annual turnover in excess of 4.8 billion euros and employ more than 29,000 professionals. Through international initiatives of this kind, the technology park continues to make progress towards its goal of becoming one of Europe’s most dynamic and competitive environments, consolidating its position as the leading technology hub in southern Europe and the preferred destination where multinational corporations and global talent work together to design the technology of tomorrow.
