PREMO opens a new Advanced Materials Development Centre at BIC Euronova, located in Malaga TechPark

The company Premo in Malaga has opened a new Advanced Materials Development Centre at BIC Euronova – located in Malaga TechPark, the European Business and Innovation Centre of Malaga, a pioneer in supporting the creation, incubation, consolidation and internationalisation of innovative companies.

In a space exclusively dedicated to the development of new materials for use in magnetic components and that Premo develops mainly for the automotive sector and with an investment of over 1M€.

The incorporation of new advanced materials (micro and nanomaterials), which exceed the properties of conventional materials, is relevant in new component designs. These increase product performance and improve system performance, thus meeting the high global demand for ever more efficient on-board chargers (OBCs), inverters and DC/DC converters in electric vehicles, battery systems, etc.

In order to meet this demand, Premo has opened a new Advanced Materials Centre at BIC Euronova in Malaga TechPark, where the chemical team of two female engineers and one male engineer (QuimiTronica), led by Paula Perez, Premo’s R&D researcher, create the functional composite materials based on the generic polymer base, PBT, PET, Co-Polyamide, respectively, and the functional filler that provides colour, mechanical resistance, thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, plasticity, flame resistance and other properties (permittivity) for application in very high frequency, etc.

These are some of the advanced materials under development, experimentation and some of them in the commercialisation phase at BIC Euronova, located 200m from the Premo Innovation Centre:

  • COOLMAGTM: Thermally conductive resins designed to provide thermal conductivity, electrical insulation in different grades, mechanical and fire protection for electrical potting applications.
  • MAGPLAST: Variety of charged polymers and/or nanomaterials with magnetic properties.
  • COOLPLAST: Polymer blends with additives conferring high thermal conductivity.
  • RESIMAG: Re-sintered core materials with magnetic features.

Contributing strongly to the circular economy and sustainability, Premo plans its 0 footprint impact by 2030 and to further extend it to the entire value chain.
