In addition to benefiting from the accelerator, training, and mentoring programme at Málaga’s BIC Euronova, the ten participating companies will compete for monetary awards to support the development of their projects
BIC Euronova, Málaga’s European Business Innovation Centre, in collaboration with the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), an organisation under the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, has launched the third edition of the ambitious CYBERSECURITY VENTURES accelerator programme. Aimed at supporting startups and innovative SMEs, the initiative builds on the success of two previous editions hosted at BIC Euronova. This initiative seeks to foster the growth of new companies through an accelerator programme, while boosting innovation and strengthening cybersecurity across Spain’s population and market.
The training and mentoring programme has already begun and will run for 10 weeks, from January to the end of March, with two sessions per week. In addition, the companies will receive personalised consultancy hours covering legal, tax and digital marketing matters, as well as guidance from an expert mentor.
All participating companies have a direct link to cybersecurity, either because it is their core business, developing innovative cybersecurity products or services, or because cybersecurity is essential to their operations, such as online sales, requiring secure digital environments for their clients.
This initiative is part of INCIBE’s Cybersecurity Entrepreneurship Programs, under the framework of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and is funded by the NextGenerationEU Funds.
As a collaborating organisation, BIC Euronova will provide accelerator programmes, talks, workshops, events, and incubation services to participating companies. This joint effort will enable participants to benefit from a solid cybersecurity knowledge base, which is essential for operating safely in today’s digital environment.
It is worth noting that Spain ranks as the third country worldwide in terms of cyberthreat detections, accounting for a 6%, close to figures reported for Japan and Poland.
Entrepreneur Boost
INCIBE’s Cybersecurity Entrepreneurship Programs were created to foster entrepreneurship in the cybersecurity sector. Their objectives include strengthening the cybersecurity capabilities of citizens, SMEs, and professionals, as well as promoting the development of the cybersecurity ecosystem.
Between 2023 and 2026, INCIBE will continue to support entrepreneurs and Spanish cybersecurity startups throughout the entire entrepreneurial process, from the business brainstorming stages to the incubation and acceleration. In fact, the Institute has been promoting cybersecurity entrepreneurship for more than 7 years, a commitment reflected in its Alumni network, a community which includes some of the most relevant cybersecurity startups at both national and international levels.
