Eurecat has strengthened its presence in the Andalusian innovation ecosystem, where it already acts as a technology partner to more than 300 companies, by driving advanced technologies in areas such as decarbonisation, mobility and digitalisation, with applications in strategic sectors in Andalusia, including aerospace, healthcare and agriculture.
Since its establishment at Málaga TechPark in 2023 with the creation of Eurecat Innova, a joint unit with Innova IRV that enables the complementary capabilities of both institutions to be leveraged, Eurecat has expanded its team of experts and capabilities in areas such as advanced digital technologies, cybersecurity, decarbonisation, semiconductors and robotics, with the aim of strengthening its impact across the region and contributing to its development through scalable technology solutions.
As a technology centre, “we are very familiar with the market and able to anticipate and deliver technological solutions that respond to the complex challenges faced by both companies and society in a rapidly changing context,” says Verónica Ramírez del Valle, Director of Eurecat Andalusia.
In particular, Eurecat facilitates access to equipment, multi-technology capabilities and advanced infrastructures for the Andalusian business and industrial sectors in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, microelectronics and cybersecurity, green hydrogen and decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility.
At Eurecat Andalusia, “we also collaborate with different stakeholders across the Andalusian ecosystem to maximise the positive impact of technological innovation, placing companies at the centre,” adds the Director of Eurecat Andalusia.
In this regard, Eurecat has structured and prioritised the development of a collaborative network with key players in the Andalusian knowledge and innovation ecosystem, such as the Railway Innovation Hub, the University of Málaga, Fidesol and Cetemet, among others. In addition, it has maintained a partnership with Innova IRV since its establishment in Málaga.
Eurecat’s headquarters in Málaga also host an SME Acceleration Office, within the framework of an initiative by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, implemented by Red.es, to support the digital transformation of the business sector and enhance competitiveness through the adoption of digital technologies.
Created to bring technological capabilities, specialised guidance and innovation tools closer to companies in the region, the SME Acceleration Office “strengthens Eurecat’s commitment to the digital transformation of Málaga’s business sector,” the Director of Eurecat Andalusia emphasises.
Technology innovation close to the region
With the aim of further increasing the impact of innovation across the region, Eurecat’s General Director, Xavier López, the Director of Eurecat Andalusia, and the Director of Ecosystems at the technology centre, Gabriel Anzaldi, held meetings in March with public administrations and key stakeholders in the Andalusian innovation and business ecosystem.
In particular, the Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, and Eurecat’s General Director signed a strategic collaboration agreement to promote research, development and innovation projects within the framework of the iQuantum Urban AI Demo Centre.
The agreement will enable the development of joint initiatives in areas such as artificial intelligence applied to urban management, sustainability, advanced urban data analytics, business innovation and technology transfer. It will also facilitate the launch of pilot projects, proof-of-concept trials and collaborative programmes with companies, universities and research centres linked to the city’s technological ecosystem.
In addition, Eurecat executives met with the Secretary General for Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Daniel Escacena, as well as with the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the General Director of Innovation at Málaga City Council, Antonio Quirós.
In the business sphere, Eurecat representatives also met with the General Director of ENDESA Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla, Rafael Sánchez, and with the company’s Director of Institutional Relations.
