The Málaga technopolis strengthens its international network with China through this alliance, which focuses on R&D, talent, and industrial cooperation
Málaga TechPark has entered into a collaboration agreement with the Wuhan Institute of Industrial Innovation & Development in China. This alliance aims to strengthen international cooperation in innovation, applied research, and technological development. In this way, both entities have established a joint framework meant to pool resources, share capabilities, and accelerate high-impact projects in the field of global innovation.
The agreement is structured around three main strategic ideas: training and exchange of talent, industrial cooperation and internationalisation, and the organisation of scientific and technological exchange activities. This approach will allow them to foster joint projects, facilitate knowledge transfer, and to reinforce collaboration between business and academic ecosystems from both regions.
The signing comes at a pivotal moment for Málaga TechPark, which continues to secure its growth, reporting revenues of €4,181 million and employing more than 29,000 people, consolidating itself as one of the most dynamic technopoles in Europe. Its standing has been further strengthened by the advancements in strategic sectors such as microelectronics, where the technopolis stands out because of the establishment of Imec’s semiconductor centre and other projects that strengthen its role as a model hub in the southern part of the continent.
Although this new alliance with Wuhan targets innovation broadly, the microelectronics ecosystem taking shape at Málaga TechPark serves as a differentiating factor. The upcoming presence of companies and advanced centres for the design, testing, and manufacturing of components positions the park as an attractive partner for international scientific institutions looking for stable collaborations in emerging technologies.
This collaboration with China adds to other international agreements promoted by Málaga TechPark, such as the ones signed with leading technology hubs in cities like Kyoto or Brussels. The Málaga technopolis also maintains connections with ecosystems in over 70 countries, broadening its global scope and strengthening its role as a gateway to European innovation.
Through this agreement, Málaga TechPark and the Wuhan Institute of Industrial Innovation & Development reinforce their commitment to open innovation, knowledge transfer, and international cooperation, laying the groundwork for new projects that connect talent, business, and technology on a global scale.
