The Málaga-based technopolis leads the European-Moroccan cooperation in vocational training and sustainable agrifood technologies
Málaga TechPark coordinated an international mission in Casablanca (Morocco) as part of the European project Agrifood4Future (AF4F), whose aim is to boost new competences in Vocational Training, advance towards a more sustainable, digital and connected model for the “agriculture of the future”, and foster collaboration between European and Moroccan agents in agrotechnology, Vocational Training and innovation ecosystems.
The visit was organised with the support of Technopark Maroc, Hassan II University of Casablanca, and the City of Trades and Skills of Casablanca-Settat; and it also featured the participation of key institutions such as the National Agrifood Federation (FENAGRI) and the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT).
Moroccan agriculture is progressing towards a model fully aligned with the principles of Agriculture 4.0, which requires guiding trainers and professionals in the acquisition of new skills. In this context, the delegation held a working meeting at Technopark Casablanca, where Moroccan partners expressed particular interest in project AF4F’s lines of action related to the pooling of hybrid resources, precision farming, and energy efficiency, strategic fields for sectors such as olive and argan production or aquaculture.
The agenda also included a visit to Hassan II University of Casablanca, with a meeting focused on academic exchange and cooperation in green technologies and agrifood. The delegation also took part in a joint session with the National Agrifood Federation (FENAGRI) and the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT), aimed at identifying synergies in vocational aptitude, sustainability, and talent development. The mission also included visits to the Technopark’s innovation areas and startups.
Likewise, the trip served to advance the exchange of best practices in sustainability, digitalisation, and vocational training, as well as to identify new opportunities for collaboration between Europe and Morocco.
Moroccan representatives expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation with AF4F partners in the medium and long term, particularly in agrifood innovation, specialist training, and productive modernisation. Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to explore channels of collaboration that facilitate technology transfer, skills development, and the creation of shared training resources, always within a realistic framework and aligned with the project’s objectives.
The initiative is part of Málaga TechPark’s global outreach strategy and reinforces its role as a European innovation hub and a key partner in global cooperation networks for technology and talent.
