Málaga TechPark participated in the 2025 S3 Conference, a key European event focused on Smart Specialization Strategies (S3), organized by the European Commission with the support of the S3 Community of Practice Secretariat (S3 CoP). The conference took place at the Maison du Bois in Brussels, bringing together policymakers, innovation experts, and key regional development stakeholders.
Representing the tech park was Sonia Palomo, Director of Technology Transfer and International Relations at Málaga TechPark, who shared experiences, explored new opportunities for institutional collaboration, and engaged with the latest trends in innovation policy and interregional cooperation.
A Key Forum for Regional Development
Driven by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), the conference convened European stakeholders involved in implementing S3 strategies, a crucial tool for promoting regional economic transformation based on innovation and sectoral specialization.
Four Strategic Pillars Structured the Program
The content of the 2025 S3 Conference was built around four key thematic areas:
- Progress in smart specialization policy and its implementation during the 2021–2027 period.
- Review of three years of activity of the S3 Community of Practice.
- Interregional collaboration and thematic platforms as drivers of innovative cooperation between regions.
- Future perspectives on the development of S3 strategies and the evolution of the S3 CoP.
The conference also featured targeted meetings of thematic S3 platform steering committees and working groups dedicated to innovation diffusion, industrial transition, and territorial cooperation
