  • Over 500 girls have participated in this event since its launch in 2022

E.T.S.I Informática hosted a new edition of Oracle4Girls at the University of Málaga, an initiative to increase the girls’ interest in science. The event welcomed 150 participants, bringing the total number of girls involved since 2022 to over 450.

The University of Málaga, Málaga TechPark, Ingeniera Soy, Oracle Academy, and the Oracle Women’s Leadership Málaga made all this possible.

During the event, the University of Málaga and Oracle held an informative session for the parents of the participant girls. The session offered them an overview of the current state of the tech sector and potential career paths and, above all, encouraged them to support their daughters’ interest in technology.

Major figures participated in this motivational talk: Manuel Enciso, Director of the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Málaga; Sofia Schneider, Director of Oracle’s Málaga office and Vice President of Artificial Intelligence for Southern Europe, and Inés Martínez, Marketing Manager for NetSuite at Oracle.

Meanwhile, the girls took part in a variety of workshops tailored to different age groups (between 6 and 16), where they experienced what it is like to pursue academic and professional careers in science and technology (specifically in the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Through the workshops, instructors guided the participants in their first steps in programming, building programmable robots, and even contributed to developing a video game. The aim was to expose the girls to the STEM world and help them imagine their future in these fields.

This initiative seeks to improve the presence of women in these STEM careers to reflect equity in technology-related professions in the long term. On a local level, Oracle has several initiatives to improve diversity.

Oracle4Girls began in 2017 with the mission of inspiring girls to pursue studies in the STEM field. The program is based on events that feature workshops for girls between 6 and 16 years old. More than 2,400 girls have already participated in over 200 of our workshops worldwide.
